Vision
Kalpenvisions a Non-Governmental Foundation dedicated to the conservation of culture and ecology for sustainable development; in which Kalp envisages an exemplar of rigorous knowledge-generating and knowledge-disseminating organization for embalming the communities from ecological degradation and cultural annihilation.
Kalp proposes to workin inaccessible, tough areas located in rural and tribal areas of Himachal Himalayas which calls for the attention of modern scientific community, who can link research and process of development at grass root level. Kalp wouldlike to see itself as a committed Society working for the contentment of people, who can live in harmony with the natural environment, while reaping all the benefits of present-day technologies and without disturbing their natural way of life. The gambit of its activities revolves around preservation of culture and ecology, through explorative efforts involving innovations like revival and renewal of oral traditions and story-telling to document practices involved. Stories and oral traditions are the soul and spirit of a culture. These have the power to transform, reform and re-ignite. They not only transmit traditional knowledge pertaining to survival in a fragile environment, but also connote the shared reminiscences of communities to live harmoniously with nature and encapsulate the edifying moral values as morale boosters.
