Traditional Wisdom
Himalayan region has varied cultural and ecological landscapes being embedded in rich traditional wisdom. Bogged down in the course of development, much of the conventional rural-based pragmatic knowledgebase developed over the years, is being wiped out swiftly.

Traditional mountain societies, including tribals, have so far been able to safeguard the traditional wisdom in spite of the aggression of modernisation. Kalp intends to conserve this wisdom by documenting it for the benefit of future generations.

At present, Kalp is involved in the documentation of traditional knowledge of mountain communities pertaining to various facets of life, such as:

Traditional Farming technologies

Traditional post harvest management technologies

Traditional livestock rearing techniques

Traditional Health care systems

Traditional weaving, residential patterns, food preparation, adaptive mechanism in response to climate change, etc.
