The amazing cultural diversity of India needs no introduction and the same holds for the cultural contours of Himachal Pradesh. In the globalized world the uniqueness of this diversity is fast disappearing as it gets assimilated into the mainstream. Its unique shamanism, ancient animist spirituality, its culinary traditions and the whole lot of its heritage require preservation through multi-pronged approaches. We are taking a crucial step towards protection of our cultural diversity by means such as documentation and research and also by developing grassroots contacts. We aim at encouraging native residents and various cultural groups to form networks that may counter-balance development and cultural exigencies and emphasize issues such as sustainable development of cultural heritage. Development is never simply economic or technological but also social and cultural. By addressing varieties of issues like religion, literature, culture, language or humanitarian affairs we hope to generate awareness towards the indigenous culture of the Pradesh.
