People’s Perceptions on Change

Perception allows people to understand each other and surrounding world. It allows individuals to make judgments and impressions about the changing situation. It is mostly based on watching, though the indigenous wisdom controls how one perceives an observation. Perception gives communities the tools to identify how things influence each other. These help the individuals to develop impressions of others by offering the required information on how people take up and handle different situations. In the changing scenario, mapping people’s perceptions is becoming very important as it helps in determining individual’s mind-set, intentions, awareness of social relationships and an understanding of social goals. It is a key constituent of social interface and social skills. The Foundation is documenting people’s perception of change, i.e. how mountain people perceive, adapt and understand the changing scenario. The society is augmenting the perception of important concerns pertaining to mountain development among policy-makers and scientific community, for evolving and implementing appropriate strategic plans through people’s participation.
