Kalp initiated the process of preparing the People’s Biodiversity Register (PBR) to generate awareness among the rural communities regarding the conservation and protection of biodiversity and rationally making use of traditional knowledge. Kalp believes that the process of preparation of PBRs and the resulting manuscripts, could serve an important role in stimulating more viable, accommodating, participatory systems of management and in certifying an improved flow of benefits to the indigenous communities. During the preparation of People’s Biodiversity Register of Thali Panchayat, an effort was made to document the cultural, ecological, floral and faunal diversity of Thali Panchayat, which is located in district Mandi, Himachal Pradesh.
