In the trouble-torn times of today, the traditional knowledge is fading into oblivion. Similarly, there are great expectations from today’s academic and research community, whoare far ahead of their older counterparts in terms of being enormously well acquainted with the contemporary scientific innovations as well as developments in the fields of medicine. However, the true potential of traditional medicine can be realized only through one’s absolute commitment to learn from the experiences concealed in the time-honored knowledge systems. These knowledge systems, which are legendary models in their own right, are very encouraging and full of hands-on wisdom. They would go a long way in motivating the present-day academic and scientific world. This project briefly highlights the traditional health care system in the state of Himachal and its potential in context of access and benefit sharing. Pertaining to various issues ranging from value of traditional medicine to the access & benefit sharing, this project acquaints the reader with the experience and perception of traditional healers, who have a profound knowledge of medicinal plants and their reaping strategies
