Data collected on dietary patterns has been analyzed in this project to see its relationship with the lifestyle of the people in selected pockets of Kinnaur district. The facts gathered from this study can also be used to build indicators in food and nutrition, which in turn can provide vital input in policy making, programme planning and management. To recuperate the conventional knowledge associated with tribal food was the main aim of this study.This project focuses at culinary traditions of tribes living in Kinnaur, a tribal district of Himachal. Besides, gathering people’s perception on changing scenario, it has made attempts to illustrate diverse food choices opted by tribals and their significance in the socio-cultural life of tribal society. Most of these are on the verge of extinction hence call for documentation and preservation.
